Single Events Fort Lauderdale meetups

Fort Lauderdale Meetups

What to Expect from Events & Adventures

We can all agree that 2020 has been a tough year for keeping any kind of social life. Fort Lauderdale has not been an exception to this rule. As we all struggle to adapt to new norms like working from home or masking up at the store, our social lives need some adjustments as well. More than ever, connecting with other people has become an essential, and somewhat tricky concept to navigate. Luckily, Fort Lauderdale meetups can help here!

Events & Adventures has been bringing singles together for over 30 years through casual, fun hangouts at hosted events where everyone is single. Fort Lauderdale meetups from Events & Adventure take full advantage of the amazing weather and local venues to treat single members to a truly unique calendar of events.

Taking the recent events into consideration, the events have been adjusted to keep everyone’s safety in mind. The addition of a full suite of virtual events has helped our singles stay connected during the worst of the pandemic, but there is light at the end of the tunnel! Things are returning back to normal! Now our singles get to enjoy the best of both virtual and in-person events, so you can stay social no matter what is happening outside.

The single members in each of our clubs are what give each city character. There are always new people to meet, new things to do, and a different dating perspective to find. When people relax and hang out as a group, connections form naturally, whether it is friendship or romance. To truly get an insider’s view on what Fort Lauderdale meetups look like, we’ve spoken with the Event Manager in Fort Lauderdale, for some insight on her club. The Event Manager plans all the fun and is one-on-one with the members on a daily basis. We did a quick Q&A with her to see what she had to say on Fort Lauderdale’s singles scene.

Q. What makes your city special?

A. Fort Lauderdale meetups are special because this city is the main meeting spot for all of our members and the most familiar to people in South Florida. We have members from West Palm Beach/Jupiter/Delray Beach and Miami/Kendall/South Beach, with Fort Lauderdale as the sweet spot. Everything is within walking distance in Fort Lauderdale which is a breath of fresh air because you know the party isn’t going to stop to re-park your car. Fort Lauderdale meetups carry on like a bar hop from one thing to another!

Q. If there was one word to describe what the single members in your group are like, what would it be and why?

A. Members here are open-minded. Single people as a whole want to continue to grow and experience life to the fullest! The only thing holding most people back is not having others to do it with. We have one member who continuously buries himself in his work and has never done much that Fort Lauderdale has to offer. Since joining the club, he targets events that he’s never done; such as going to open-mic nights, trying Indian food, rock climbing, and beach volleyball.

It’s funny, too, because he will sit back and watch at first but by the end of the event, he’s the expert! “You’re going to go from this rock, to that rock, to the other rock and you’ll be at the top. Watch!” And he’ll scale the hardest wall in the gym, effortlessly. It’s really thrilling watching people do something they’ve never done before and enjoy it. Regardless of if they’re naturals like he is, everyone beams when they are experiencing something with others. It’s human nature.

Q. What’s your personal favorite event out of all the Fort Lauderdale meetups?

A. A great night in Fort Lauderdale? It depends on what outfit you want to wear. If you’re coming from work – go to Las Olas. Start the night at the NSU Museum with 1-for-2 drinks and happy art, then walk down the street for dinner (at literally any restaurant, they’re all amazing). A little further down, there are great theme bars with live music and karaoke. If you want to let your hair down, I suggest night volleyball to watch the sunset, BYOB and unwind with some sandy competition!

Q. What are the most popular events attended by the members?

A. The most popular events are game nights! We always have them at a different location and games are a light-hearted, easy way of connecting with other people. Over games, there’s no forced small talk, which singles typically dislike. It’s just bonding over a game and enjoying the night in a very casual fun way.

Q. Have you witnessed love connections?

A. I see love connections all the time! But this is because we offer people such a unique way to meet people! When you’re doing something you love and just having fun, sparks are bound to fly. I’ve seen a lot of beautiful friendships blossom in the club. As most adults experience, making friends (outside of work) is very difficult. We put together events that bring out the best of people’s personalities and interests, which makes it really easy to form friendships – not just acquaintances.

This type of energy (friendship and comradery) is so attractive that it brings a lot of attention to our group when we’re in public places. If we’re playing volleyball – people will join us, if we’re rock climbing – people want to talk to us. A lot of what you’re going to find is dependent on the energy you’re putting out there, so the more a person joins in and gets involved, the more of a chance they will have to find that love connection or friendship that will actually last.

Whether you’re looking to get out of the house, make new friends, or to meet someone special, Events & Adventures offers something from everyone. If you’d like to check out our Fort Lauderdale meetups and meet some of it’s amazing singles, just visit eventsandadventures.com.

Vancouver Skyline Kayaking

A Meetup in Vancouver

What To Expect From Events & Adventures

Wondering what an Events & Adventures meetup in Vancouver looks like? Dating is difficult enough on its own, so how do you know that you aren’t going to be wasting your time? Events & Adventures has been bringing single people together for over 30 years, and Vancouver has always been an exciting scene for singles with tons of things to do locally. It seemed like a natural spot to start a new Events & Adventures club.

The single members in each of our clubs are what give each city character. There are always new people to meet, new things to do, and a different dating perspective to find. When people relax and hang out as a group, connections form naturally, whether it is friendship or romance. Events & Adventures Vancouver hosts over 30 dynamic events every month, from local outings to weekend trips and everything in between. Whether you like sports, happy hours, morning yoga, or outdoor adventures, there’s something for everyone. A meetup in Vancouver has excitement in store on any day of the week.

With COVID putting a damper on the dating scene, Events & Adventures was inspired to create virtual events for their single members as well. So, even if you’re stuck at home, it doesn’t mean you can’t keep up a social life. Unique virtual events like Cards Against Humanity Nights, Trivia Nights and many others became huge hits! We’ve decided to keep these events permanent, offering our single members the ability to join our group events from the comfort of home. This has been an amazing addition for Vancouver’s busier members who have little time to meet people around their work schedule.

To truly get an insider’s view on what a meetup in Vancouver looks like, we’ve spoken with Impreet, the Event Manager in Vancouver, for some insight on her club. The Event Manager plans all the fun and is one-on-one with the members on a daily basis. We did a quick Q&A with her to see what she had to say on Vancouver’s singles scene.

Q: What makes your city special?

A: Vancouver is special for many reasons, but the best part is how close we are to the mountains and the ocean. During some parts of the year, you can hit up the mountains in the morning for snowboarding, then go paddle-boarding in the afternoon. It’s an adventurous city filled with adventurous individuals. The members in Vancouver are awesome in so many ways. Our members are not afraid to take risks and are extremely supportive of the adventurous things you try! Afraid of heights, but want to try bungee jumping? Our members will be there cheering you on and being extremely supportive of it! It’s great to have an awesome group of friends to help you face your fears.

Q: If there was one word to describe what the single members in your group are like, what would it be and why?

A: Vancouver members are definitely friendly. All the members join the group for almost the same reasons—they are all here to make friends and potentially meet a life partner so everyone is really friendly and wants to get to know everyone who is a part of the club.

Q: What’s your personal favorite meetup in Vancouver?

A: I would say our White-Water Rafting & Camping trip we have every year. This trip is ALWAYS a blast and we always have over 40 members attend the weekend getaway! For something more local, I would say bowling. A lot of our members’ fun and competitive sides come out during bowling and we all always laugh it off together, which makes the experience so much more fun!

Q: What are the most popular events attended by the members?

A: Popular events are definitely the close weekend getaways. Whether we are heading to Harrison, houseboating, or Chilliwack for our rating and camping trip – those events always have huge numbers. For our in-town events, our pizza and games night always draws a large crowd. We have this event once a month and we end up staying at the venue for 2-3 hours playing board games!

Q: Have you witnessed love connections?

A: Absolutely. I’ve witnessed many love connections and it’s awesome to get to see two people come together because of our events. Many of the couples I have witnessed are still together, engaged, or married!

A meetup in Vancouver is a way for you to try something new, meet new people, and maybe find someone special. At the very least, you will have a blast. Being single, especially at this difficult time, does not mean you have to be alone. Single Friends at Bonfire

A Meetup in Miami

What to Expect from Events & Adventures

It’s time to heat things up with a meetup in Miami from Events & Adventures South Florida. Each Events & Adventures city is special and unique in its own way. Our dynamic groups of single members are what give each city character and a thrilling calendar of events. If you’re single and looking to get out of the house or meet someone special, Events & Adventures hosts over 30 events every month including in-person activities and fun virtual events. A meetup in Miami allows you to meet new people, try new things, and find excitement in paradise!

But how do you know what a meetup in Miami really has in store? We went straight to the Event Managers who deal with our members daily to get inside information on what the singles in this city are like:

Q: What makes a meetup in Miami special?

A:The Miami area is special because you can find paradise in every direction. Explore South Florida by driving 30 minutes in any direction and you can find something different. From neon lights and beach club vibes to hammock trees that shade the streets with vast gardens of tropical paradise. Then suddenly, alligators or panthers with absolutely no civilization around you.

Q: If there was one word to describe what the single members in your group are like, what would it be and why?

A: Like the temperature, South Florida members are very warm. These members are very receptive to new experiences, including connecting with new people, ideas and backgrounds.

Q: What’s your personal favorite meetup at Events & Adventures?

A: My favorite activity is the Epic Hikes Series. Every month we explore a new park in Florida, which is very special because of how different Florida’s landscape changes in every direction. We’ve gone to the heart of the Florida panthers’ habitat in the Everglades, to hiking paths along the ocean where we’ve walked through the rocks and corals shaped by the waves of the ocean.

An event that I’m really looking forward to takes place over 2 days. Our members really like being outside for a full moon and this summer there is a Strawberry Full Moon. It’s just as beautiful as you can imagine. The night before we’re having Strawberry Fields Forever cooking class featuring a 3 course “All Things Strawberry” menu, along with strawberry martinis. The night of the full moon, we’re going to meet up at the park for a themed full moon circle. Complete with the courses we learned to cook, astrological activities, and games as we watch the moon rise!

Q: What are the most popular events attended by the members?

A: The most popular events speak volumes to the independence and curiosity of these singles. Full Moon kayaking is an awesome event because we all get our own kayaks and go out on the water for a couple of hours. When we come back, there’s a bonfire with s’mores and we all mingle. People also enjoy new areas of South Florida so we put together tours and experiences that bring out South Florida culture. This summer, we’re doing a midnight snack attack event in Little Havana. There is a local favorite called La Palma that serves churros and chocolate, with the Little Havana mural around the corner. It’s a really hearty event that is the ultimate #SouthFloridaLife experience.

Q: Have you witnessed love connections?

A: I’ve thankfully seen connections flourish within our club. One story involves our staff being very talented in seeing the best and brightest of our members from their initial interviews. It’s very rare that the staff mentions a potential connection to a member, but in one case it was undeniable. Without disclosing this person’s identity, our staff mentioned the potential for a connection in the club during someone’s interview. It was an instant connection when the two met, and we didn’t say until later on that it had been the match mentioned in the interview. The two are really cute and are thriving together!

Although this is just one example, meeting people through a meetup in Miami is easy with Events & Adventures. When people focus on just having fun, everyone is single and everyone shares common interests in the activity, sparks are bound to fly!

Singles Outdoor Fun

A Meetup in Minneapolis

What to Expect From Events & Adventures

Each Events & Adventures (E&A) location has unique characteristics that make it interesting and fun. A meetup in Minneapolis will look different than a meetup in San Francisco, not only because of the different activities available, but because of the incredible single members that make up each group.

Events & Adventures has been bringing singles together for over 30 years! It’s a casual way of meeting new people while doing things you love. It just so happens that everyone with you will also be single! Whether you’re looking for fun adventures and new friendships or for a true love connection, Events & Adventures handles all the planning and details so you can focus on having fun. Sparks are bound to fly when you gather eligible singles together. We help you make that happen.

We’ve gone straight to the source to get the details on what a meetup in Minneapolis really looks like by interviewing the Event Manager with E&A. Once you’re signed up, this Event Manager is going to be your contact for schedules, events, questions, and more. They are also the best person to give you an intimate view of what to expect, as they interact with our single members every week!

We asked Reid to comment on what people can expect from a meetup in Minneapolis:

Q: What makes a meetup in Minneapolis special?

A: With almost 7,000 acres of parkland and water, Minneapolis provides our members with daily opportunities to connect with one another in the beauty of nature without leaving the city.  Engaging with one another in outdoor activities creates strong bonds and lasting memories.  The winters may be cold, but Minneapolis members still thrive with an abundance of winter activities like skiing, snowshoeing, tubing, ice skating and more!

Q: If there was one word to describe what the single members in your group are like, what would it be and why?

A: Welcoming – Minneapolis members tend to be very active in a wide range of interests and activities that the city and its surroundings have to offer.  Food, culture, nightlife and the amazing art scene, all seem to be magnified by the serenity and peacefulness of a city which has embraced and amplified its green spaces during economic growth.  There’s not a lot to complain about here and in this spirit our members are very welcoming to one another and always eager to pull a chair over to include you in the group.

Q: What’s your personal favorite meetup at Events & Adventures?

A: My favorite meetups are when we are able to gather together in nature at local and even state parks.  Hiking, boating and getting to know one another outside is always a great recipe for forming strong bonds with one another.

Q: What are the most popular events attended by the members?

A: Members in Minneapolis love the outdoors and our volleyball but you will always find us in large groups year-round bowling turkeys and enjoying a pint together.

Q: Have you witnessed love connections?

A: We see romance all the time. It’s just so easy to connect with the people in Events & Adventures because you are creating bonds over shared activities. No one is pressuring you to make a connection or forcing you out on a date. You’re just hanging out, doing cool things, and meeting new people. It’s natural that someone hits it off with another club member and if not, that’s fine too because you’ve had an amazing time, experienced something new, and made new friends.

There’s never been a better time to sign up for Events & Adventures. The recent months have kept us cooped up in the house but summer is on the way.

If you’re single and looking to join our membership in Minneapolis, just sign up today to speak to our professional staff at www.eventsandadventures.com.

Singles on first Date

First Date Tips For Singles

Need a kick to your dating life?

We thought so! What better way to re-ignite that fire than to brush up on some first date tips from the people who do this for a living?

Events & Adventures has been helping relationships blossom for over 30 years. You’d be amazed at how easy it is to create a spark just by putting singles together in activities they all enjoy. However, dating is not always an exact science, and there is no magic formula. The recent COVID-19 uncertainty has also put a damper on romance, forcing all of us to reconsider how we approach relationships. But the good news is, the world is slowly returning to normal and summer romances are just on the horizon!

Here are 10 first date tips to bring with you into your summer dating scene, whether you are in a group setting or having one-on-one time with someone special.

Be Confident & Friendly

No one likes a big ego, but confidence is very attractive! Group events may seem intimidating; however, it’s quite simple! Just introduce yourself! In this setting, it’s completely normal, even encouraged, to just approach people and start conversations. Share something about yourself and ask others to do the same. A friendly attitude and a willingness to get to know others show confidence and good spirits.

Keep Conversation Light

Some people have a tendency to overshare. Keep the conversation to what’s going on around you. Luckily, at Events & Adventures, you’ll have plenty to discuss whether you’re sight-seeing on a kayaking trip or taking in the nature during a hike. Try to avoid any “ex” topics. A relationship doesn’t seem appealing if the other person is still holding on to the old one.  Leave the resentments in the past and work on something new with the singles you’re meeting now.

Choose Common Ground

Found someone you’re interested in? Try inviting them to an off-site date where you can have some alone time. The first date should always be somewhere you both feel comfortable. Usually, a public setting, like a coffee shop, restaurant, or other fun outing is best practice. You can even leave the intimate dinner date for later, and choose a more interesting outing like a trip to the aquarium. You should have a pretty solid understanding of what your dates interests are, based on where you meet them at Events &Adventures!

The Dreaded Check

WHO PAYS?? A contentious topic, but a necessary one. Traditionally, the man pays. However, ladies, come prepared to split the check just in case. Gentlemen, if you’d like to impress your date, you should pay.

Turn Off Your Phone

This is a no-brainer! If you can’t leave business to rest for an hour or two, wait until you have a day where you can. Should an emergency arise, excuse yourself, and be brief. Don’t let anything take your attention from your date.

Don’t Default to the Bar

This is an easy mistake to make. Of course, drinks might seem like a casual choice with easy conversation, but it shows no effort on your part. Drinks often lead to both parties not being their true self, and can even turn sloppy if you’re not careful. If you’re really trying to get to know someone, a crowded bar is not the place. Events & Adventures has a ton of activities outside the bar scene that will spark your next first date idea.

Don’t “Play It Cool”

One of the most important first date tips is to try to be authentic! Acting like you don’t care isn’t cool, it actually makes your date feel insecure and uncomfortable. If you’re interested, then show that interest by asking your date about themselves, paying attention, and actively responding in the conversation.

Avoid Trigger Topics

There’s a time and place to discuss politics and a first date is not it! Even if you think the other person may potentially have similar views or they voice agreement, just steer the conversation into somewhere else. This can lead an uncomfortable situation or even an argument. Same goes for hot topics like religion, sex, or anything too controversial. The first date is for fun conversation and lighthearted laughs, not political views.

Asking for a Second Date

This one can be tough to navigate but try to keep it simple. As a rule of thumb, wait to ask for a second date until after your first date has already ended and the person has gone home. Express that you had a great time, and let them know you’ll be in touch. Asking during the date can make things slightly uncomfortable, especially if you’re judging the date incorrectly. Wait until you and the date have had time to think over the night and reach out to them the next day if you are too excited to wait!

Don’t Give Up

One bad date is not a good reason to get down on yourself or to give up the dating scene altogether. There is someone out there for everyone, and sitting in your house won’t get you any closer to meeting them. Events & Adventures will help you meet eligible singles just doing things you love. So, you don’t have to crawl the bars or swipe aimlessly through profiles. Just go do what you love, and meet other singles who love those things too!

If you’re ready to live life more and put some of these first date tips into action, sign up for a membership today.

Events and Adventures Thailand Trip 2019

Thailand Trip Q&A

This February, Events & Adventures ventured out on a 14-day international trip to the exotic paradise of Thailand. What better way to learn about this amazing trip than hearing from the people that got to go on the adventure themselves?

We had a super fun Q & A with two of our members that joined Events & Adventures on our exciting Thailand trip: Rachel Wolfson from our Chicago Club and Susan Euing from our San Francisco Club. Here’s what they had to say about their time abroad with Events & Adventures:

Q: Have you ever been abroad before this trip?

R: Yes, but not with Events & Adventures. This was a first.

S: Yes, many times, but this was my first time with Events & Adventures.

Q: What was your favorite part of traveling with Events & Adventures?

R: My favorite part was meeting the different people from the other Events & Adventures locations and learning about Thailand from Natalie (our tour guide). It was fantastic exploring somewhere I had never been before.

S: The trip itinerary and it was a really great price!

Q: Out of all of the excursions you went on while in Thailand, which was your favorite and why?

R: I loved the floating river lodge. You got to be away from the rest of the world, no electricity, very peaceful while hearing the water underneath and relaxing overall. Also, we got to meet our first elephant, Wandi!

S: Personally, my favorite was the Hmong village. It was filled with very interesting people and culture.

Q: What was something unexpected that happened on the trip that left you pleasantly surprised?

R: When we got to play with baby tigers- they were so cute and surprisingly big at a month and a half old. I couldn’t believe the size of their paws at that age!

S: I had a wonderful and very compatible roommate. We are keeping up our new friendship even though we live two states away.

Q: Did you come back with any fun souvenirs?

R: A photo with frame (made out of recycled elephant dung) of one of my best friends from E&A and myself riding on U2, the elephant. We had lots of laughs on her and another elephant, as well as along the trip! Lots of great memories!

S: I bought a pig made out of rope for the year of the pig!

Q: If you could give someone going on Events & Adventures’s next Thailand trip a tip, what would it be?

R: Don’t be afraid to try something you’ve never done before. And make sure you bring comfortable walking shoes; there are lots of stairs! Try sitting with someone new each time you are sitting on the way to one of the spots you are going to explore so you can get to know them! you never know what type of similarities you might have!

S: Bring more dressy clothes than  you think you’ll need and get a full-body Thai massage!

Susan and Rachel’s amazing memories prove you can create lasting bonds while traveling the world with Events & Adventures. We can hardly wait for our next journey to a faraway land!

What exhilarating vacation will you be joining us on? Will you be floating down the Amazon River with us in August or staying stateside in NYC during the Holiday Season in November?

The number one requirement to come along? Join Events & Adventures! When you do, you get to live a life you love!

AI and the Dating App

Artificial Intelligence Is Entering the Dating Scene

Over the last couple of years, Artificial Intelligence has started to appear in the dating app scene. With these new and “improved” apps, gone are the days of swiping. Now, data mining is the way of online dating future.

What are these Apps and What Do They Do?

The most prominent AI app stateside was created by Denver native, Kevin Teman. In an article published by 303 Magazine on April 4, Teman explains how his dating app hybrid works. His app, AIMM, is essentially Siri meets matchmaker. The app launched back in 2017 and has taken all of the techniques of dating apps, matchmakers, speed dating, and dating services to create a dating service hybrid.

Again, you talk to this app like you talk to Siri, answering questions like, “Tell me an embarrassing story about your childhood” then the app will analyze your answers, sort them into different personality categories, and introduce you to people on its own accord. It takes roughly a week for the app to “get to know you” if you use it for five to ten minutes a day.

So essentially, you’re dating a robot for a week so you can find a person you might have a connection with.

According to Mashable’s article, “What Will Online Dating Look Like in 2030?,” across the pond in the UK, Loveflutter, is their AI dating app equivalent. This app matches people based on personality traits it decodes from each person’s tweets. The founders also plan to use AI to coach Loveflutter users on where to meet offline after analyzing their chats with matches.

In the future, these apps may dive even deeper into our phone data and start using information like if you pay your bills on time (or at all), what websites you visit (or shows you binge watch), your camera roll, and how much you exercise (thanks FitBit.)

Is This Too Good to Be True? (Most Definitely)

At first, this shiny new approach to modern dating looks pretty nice. Why wouldn’t we want help weeding out people we probably won’t have compatibility with? And we can do it from the comfort of our couches? Win-win.

However, when you take off the cupid-inspired rose colored glasses of technology-fueled romance, you’ll realize that the founders of these apps don’t have an end goal of people’s happiness; they want people to use their services, not leave them.

As Jean Meyer, the founder and CEO of European dating app Once said in Mashable’s article,

“The dating industry has zero incentive to create this perfect matching algorithm […] The optimum for a dating service is to show you profiles of people that might be good enough, but not perfection. People who you go on dates with, and then after two, three dates you realize it won’t work out and you go back to the app.”

In the long run, these developments in technologically-fueled dating services will result in more disappointment and discouragement for their users than anything else. Why not spend your time investing in your life and happiness than using newer and nicer apps that are being programmed to sabotage the fulfilling experience of finding meaningful relationships?

Events & Adventures is the Best Alternative to AI

Events & Adventures uses the greatest strategy of all to introduce people. It creates daily opportunities for you to meet actual people (yes, humans) while doing fun and interesting activities. You develop friendships and lasting relationships by getting to know people that want to take a step back from their phones and enjoy their lives.

Do you want to know what’s even better about Events & Adventures? If you meet someone, we consider that a success story, not a loss. We’ve done our job if you find someone special. What makes a better story anyways, meeting your person while jumping out of a plane or while staring at your phone screen? It’s time to cut out the electronic middleman and live a life you love with Events & Adventures.

Dating App Experiment

The Dating App Experiment

The Dating App Experiment

As a single staff member of one of the Events & Adventures clubhouses, I decided to do a bit of an experiment with myself. Like a lot of people, I’m a dating app user; as a person dating in the 21st century it often feels like there aren’t many other options. As a simultaneous member of Events & Adventures, I started to compare and contrast my experiences with my online relationships and the ones I was seeing develop at Events & Adventures.

I’ve been on the classic apps like Tinder and Bumble and have tried some of the more obscure apps like Hinge and Coffee Meets Bagel. They each have different layouts and specialties that make them seem like lights at the end of a tunnel filled with fellow singles. In the end, each app seems to turn out to have a similar end: possible dates and little connection.

The Findings

Dating apps turned the very real and emotional experience of dating into a very numb and robotic game. I’ve found myself mindlessly swiping through people without even looking at them. The sensation of matching with someone seems to create more of an endorphin boost than an actual opportunity for a true connection.

I’ll never forget when I matched with a guy and mentioned meeting up for dinner with him pretty quickly, trying to bypass the small talk and make something out of a match that seemed promising. He agreed, we set a time and location. The next morning, he was gone. He deleted our match and seeing as that was the only form of contact I had with him, there was no way of getting in touch to see what happened.

The experience stung, but a part of me accepted it because we hadn’t even met. How could I hold this guy accountable when he was only a picture on a screen?

I’ve gone on my fair share of actual dates through these apps too. I’ve even been in short-term relationships with some of the men I’ve meet. The large majority of the time the connection I thought I had with these guys online didn’t come through in person. If we did actually have something in common, there seemed to be a pressure to put a definition on whatever we had right away, which ended up scaring one of us away. When you make dating the primary focus of any activity, there’s an expectation of trust and vulnerability almost instantly. How can you put that kind of pressure on someone you barely know?

Having heard friends express similar frustrations, I know I’m not alone in my dating app woes. I even hear us wondering aloud if there is something wrong with us because of our lack of success.

The Solution

Having experienced Events & Adventures for the last six months, I honestly believe it’s not us but the online dating system that’s to blame. Unlike the forced nature of online dating, Events & Adventures creates an organic environment for members to have fun being themselves.

Are you filled with random facts or a board game connoisseur? You can guarantee there’s a trivia or game night coming up with Events & Adventures. More of a sports fan? Every club has at least one viewing party or pickup game on the books. Are you a whitewater rafting, bungee jumping, or adrenaline junkie—or do you want to be? Events & Adventures has you covered there, too.

And the best part? Other people are doing all of these things with you. You’ll be able to build connections with people that have similar interests and have the opportunity to see these same people on a weekly, or even daily basis, without having to plan the get togethers yourself.

All of the romantic relationships I’ve seen develop between Events & Adventures members have come out of the weeks and months they have spent together at Events & Adventures events. When people have the chance to develop friendships, those friendships turn into trust, and that trust can very easily blossom into something more substantial like commitment and love.

Our members have the chance to cultivate relationships with each other without having to worry about defining their experiences, romantic or otherwise, because that’s not what Events & Adventures is about. Our goal is to help people live a life they love, and that definition is different for everyone.

As a self-proclaimed wallflower, I’ve really had the chance to soak up all of the wonderful benefits Events & Adventures provides its members. In a world so fueled by instant gratification, Events & Adventures slows things down and gives its members the change to enjoy their lives with friends, new and old. So why keep staring at a dating app filled with what-ifs and maybes and come have some promised fun with Events and Adventures? You never know where it might lead until you give it a try!

Event & Adventures Winter Fun & Activities

Starting The New Year with New Activities

It might not come as much of a surprise, but studies have shown that the most common New Year’s Resolutions are losing weight and exercising more. These studies have also shown that enjoyment is a key factor in achieving any fitness goal and creating a happier and healthier you. Our clubhouses from Chicago to Vancouver took the time to incorporate new activities into their January calendars so members could start off their 2019 happier and healthier. Here’s a roundup of some of the new activities our club members enjoyed:

Burning Calories and Having Fun

On January 15th, Chicago kicked it into high-gear at a CycleBar class in Kildeer, Illinois. Members cycled their way through a class fueled by an enthusiastic instructor, fun club-like lighting, and energetic music. They were definitely feeling the burn once the class was done, but nothing brings friends closer together than a great workout! Chicago wasn’t alone when it came to featuring high-intensity workouts in January. Our Seattle club had an empowering and fat-blasting afternoon on January 20th at JabX Kickboxing and Fitness. They kicked and jabbed their way through more than 800 calories per member in the workout!

Cold Weather Activities

Three of our clubs embraced the cold weather to help burn away the extra slices of pie eaten this holiday season. Our Vancouver club swept calories away at the Royal City Curling Club in New Westminster on January 13th and enjoyed the benefits of the quirky game of curling. Minneapolis members frolicked through the snow on January 19th as they snowshoed along two miles of trails in Pine City, Minnesota. Members got to learn about winter travel during the fur trade and got to participate in additional activities like throwing a curling stone and playing a round of Ojibwe snow snake. The Denver club enjoyed a winter-inspired activity the same day when they went ice skating at Evergreen Lake!

Dallas gave football a wintery twist during their Flag Freezeball game on January 12th. During their pick up game of flag football, members forgot their winter blues and had a great time! Also embracing another classic activity, Houston gave Throwback Thursday a whole new meaning while roller skating. Houston members managed to get a leg workout in at the Adults Only night, January 17th, at the Dairy Ashford Roller Rink. Reliving roller rink memories with new friends was just a bonus!

Outdoor Adventures

Archery Tag was Phoenix’s activity of choice. They combined a game of tag with the combative skills used in other fun activities like paintball and dodgeball. Add the timeless activity of archery into the mix and this event made January 19th a unique, fun, and unforgettable day for Phoenix members. Speaking of paintball, Santa Clara had a great time enjoying this adrenaline-filled classic on January 12th. This was a great and colorful way to run around with fellow E&A members. Their friends just down the road at the San Francisco club spent January 13th participating in a Scavenger Hunt throughout the boats found at the Sausalito Wooden Boat Tour. This low-impact activity managed to incorporate a leisurely walk into a fun afternoon with friends.

No matter what city you’re in, Events and Adventures will be sure to help you live a happier and healthier 2019 while you make new friends and stronger connections. With over 30 scheduled events every month you can experience so many new activities and exciting things. After all, it’s our mission to help you live a life you love.

St. Patrick's Day with Events & Adventures Phoenix

St. Patrick’s Day Party with Events & Adventures Phoenix

Experience A New Kind Of St. Patrick’s Day with Events & Adventures Phoenix

Why celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in one place when you can party on the go? This is exactly what Events & Adventures Phoenix did when members boarded a giant London-style party bus and took to the fun-filled streets of Phoenix. This event was an exciting time for members to let loose and get to know each other during a familiar holiday while gaining an entirely new experience!

The evening began at a local hotel where the members met up. The Real London Bus Tour Company provided the mode of transportation, which was a giant double-decker party bus. The bus was a replica of the classic red-colored buses that roam the streets of London. It had tinted windows, more than enough room for food and drinks and an impressive sound system so that members could listen to their favorite tunes. Irish rock music was a popular choice since everyone wanted to get into that St. Patty’s Day spirit.

This was just the beginning of their evening as the party bus toured the city of Tempe and West Mesa

The group went to four different bars where they had special discounts waiting for them. These discounts were offered to Events & Adventures members only, which gave everyone a feeling of exclusivity. The members played games at the bars and enjoyed making new friends over some drinks and laughter.

After each bar, the members boarded the party bus and headed for the next one. This event was a round-trip occasion so that members didn’t have to worry about transportation or car-pooling. The party was kept alive when they stepped back onto the bus as the members were greeted with food, music and dancing. By the end of the night, the members were dropped off at the hotel where it all began.

The St. Patrick’s Day Party by Events & Adventures Phoenix was an outstanding event with a great turnout

Over 40 members attended and ended up having the time of their lives. Getting around and worrying about traffic while trying to focus on having a good time is difficult, so why not have the way of transportation become the main event? Spending St. Patrick’s Day on a double-decker party bus was a fun and unique twist to the holiday. Events & Adventures gave their Phoenix members an experience that they’ll never forget. Get excited for our next great event!
