River Rafting with Events & Adventures Midwest

Go River Rafting With Events & Adventures!

The Events & Adventures Chicago and Minneapolis clubs celebrated Labor Day weekend at Wildman Adventure Resort for a three-day river rafting adventure. Wildman Adventure Resort is located along the Menominee and Peshtigo Rivers along the Wisconsin and Michigan borders. The members had the choice of staying in either a cabin or tent, making it a perfect location for the white water river rafting weekend.

The first day was laid back as the members started to trickle in from Chicago and Minneapolis. The clubs started to mingle as they went on the hunt for their respective room assignments. Everyone formed quick friendships as tent and cabin mates got to know one another at dinner and throughout the first night of the trip.

The second day started off as any rafting trip should—on the Menominee River.

Members were put into teams of eight to ten people and boarded their respective rafts. Each group had an exhilarating river rafting adventure along the rapids, with a raft or two experiencing a topsy-turvy ride! The morning was a bonding and unforgettable experience for every member involved. Once the rafting groups finished out their time on the Menominee, the fun wasn’t over yet. Members had the choice of either zip lining or playing paintball.

Half of the members strapped in for the rides of their lives and soared through the treetops of the Wisconsin wilderness. The remaining members of the Chicago and Minneapolis clubs enjoyed an afternoon of colorful and healthy competition as they battled it out on the paintball fields. It was explosive day, to say the least. The day winded down with dinner by the campfire.

The members played games, ate s’mores, and enjoyed laughing together while sharing stories around the campfire.

The final day was spent river rafting on the amazing Peshtigo River. Compared to the Menominee, the Peshtigo is a relatively smaller river. However, the current was much stronger and definitely a bigger challenge to overcome. Members were given the chance to test their endurance in single kayak rafts and cheered each other on as they battled the rapids.

The Chicago and Minneapolis crews will never forget the river rafting adventures they had together or the relaxing time spent enjoying the natural beauty of Wisconsin. There’s nothing quite like jumping on a raft, riding through rapids, and sleeping under the stars to bring a group of great people closer together. This trip was the perfect way to close out the summer and is a Labor Day these members will never forget. We look forward to Events & Adventures next great event, who knows where we’ll be traveling to next!

facebook dating feature

Facebook Plans to Launch Dating Feature for Singles

How Will The Facebook Dating Feature Compare To Other Platforms?

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently announced that Facebook will be invading the singles space with the release of their new Facebook dating feature. This move was seemingly inevitable, as Facebook had already become a source for building romantic relationships for some users. With the incredible amount of data that Facebook has on each user, it’s reasonable to say that they have a strong foundation for such an initiative. However, how this new feature will zdistinguish itself from other dating apps remains the question.

Like most dating apps, Facebook dating will feature a typical “swipe and like” type interface

Based on photos and descriptions, singles will get to decide if they’d like to start an electronic conversation with a fellow user. Although Facebook will automatically match singles with those who share commonalities, users are simply given photos and basic information to make their decisions. Zuckerberg hopes that singles will be able to cultivate real, long-term relationships using this new feature.

Nevertheless, the Facebook dating feature is not a groundbreaking concept. Attempting to start relationships with other singles via apps and online dating profiles has become the modern way of doing things. In order to meet the demand of a culture driven by social media, several electronic dating platforms have surfaced, including Tinder, Bumble and Hinge, to name a few.

Although these options are convenient, they may not be the best way to meet other singles. As you’ve probably heard someone complain, people don’t always look like their picture in real life. Real human interaction reveals traits and characteristics that simply can’t be translated through a dating app. After all, compatibility is best measured when you’re connecting with others face to face.

What if we went back to the oldfashioned way of doing things – building true, long-term relationships in person

Events & Adventures offers a better way to meet singles in a relaxed and fun environment. Unlike the new Facebook dating feature, this social club joins people together through exciting events and group activities. From traveling the world to a casual night out, there’s always something to do and someone to meet! With over 30 events per month to choose from, including wine tasting, horseback riding, dance parties and more, members are never bored. Vietnam with Events & Adventures

A Trip to Vietnam with Events & Adventures Dallas

Experience Vietnam with Events & Adventures Dallas

Vietnam, a country filled with many ancient cities and fascinating sights was a recent destination for Events & Adventures Dallas. Members boarded the flight for a 12-day journey throughout Vietnam, visiting incredible cities such as Ho Chi Minh, Da Nang, Hoi An and more. They immersed themselves in the culture by spending time with locals and traveling to many locations by foot. The group had no idea how close they would become by the end of this remarkable experience.

The trip to Vietnam began in Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon. This city in southern Vietnam is famous for its French colonial landmarks, including the Notre Dame Cathedral, made entirely of materials imported from France, and the 19thcentury Central Post Office. During the first morning, members were treated to a special three-wheel rickshaw tour in the Saigon French Quarter. The tour continued on a foot as they saw in person the Notre Dame Cathedral, Independence Palace and the beautiful Opera House. They also visited the Cu Chi Tunnels, a guerilla base during the Vietnam War. The tunnel system was created to hide and move supplies in South Vietnam during the war.

Members got to tour the dark tunnels and witness many of the war exhibits first hand

During the next day, members enjoyed the culture of Vietnam by heading south to visit the famous Mekong Delta. This region of Vietnam is a vast maze of rivers, swamps and islands. The group took a wooden boat cruise down the Mekong River to Tan Phong Island. While on the river, the sky opened up and started pouring down rain. This just caused more laughs among the members and turned out to be quite the refreshing experience.

The flight to Da Nang was the first of several intra-country flights. After landing in Da Nang, the group took a bus to Hoi An City, a location on Vietnam’s central coast known for its well-preserved Ancient Town. At night, the members went to see the amazing night lanterns light up the city and rise to the sky. After spending a few days touring the unique sights of Hoi An, it was time for another intra-country flight to Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam.

Hanoi was a highlight of the trip, especially due to the Ha Long Bay Cruise. This was an overnight luxury boat where members got to eat, relax and enjoy the breathtaking scenery. Members also had the chance to tour Hanoi City, witnessing the Ho Chi Minh Museum, the temple of literature and the National Historical Museum.

The trip ended with one final surprise: a flight to Siem Reap, a resort town in northwestern Cambodia

The group visited Angkor Wat, a temple complex in Cambodia and the largest religious monument in the world. Members spent the entire day touring many of the ancient temples in the area and meeting the natives. The last night came faster than the members had hoped, but they were given a very special farewell dinner.

As the Events & Adventures Dallas members boarded the flight to go home, they couldn’t help but reflect on their gratitude for such an amazing experience. Not only did they embark on an unforgettable adventure, they made friendships that will last a lifetime. This trip to Vietnam was just one of many international trips that Events & Adventures offers its members. Stay tuned for a recap of the upcoming Antarctica trip. We can’t wait for the incredible stories to come!

The Peru Trip with Events & Adventures Houston

Journey to Peru with Events & Adventures Houston

Events & Adventures Houston had the experience of a lifetime as they ventured to Peru for a 10 day excursion. So much was in store for the members on this Peru trip, including a visit to Machu Picchu, several nights in the amazing city of Cusco and even a three-day trek through Peru’s Andes Mountains. Members were able to escape the mundane and immerse themselves in the fascinating culture of Peru. Every detail of this journey was planned and ready to go, members simply had to get on the plane and brace themselves for an adventure they’d never forget.

Members departed the states from Miami International Airport, heading straight for the Peruvian Andes. The members were met by their Peruvian trip staff and tour guides, who brought them to their 4 star hotel. Everyone had a quick meet and greet while tasting Coca leaf tea, a traditional Peruvian drink that introduced them to the culture.

The next few days were spent exploring the city of Cusco and its incredible surroundings

Members enjoyed a tour of the main square, colonial churches and local markets. After everyone was adjusted to the high elevation of over 11,000 feet, they ventured outside city limits to visit the Inca Ruins. Many site-seeing opportunities presented themselves at Sacsayhuaman (temple of the Lightning), Qenqo (ceremonial place), Tambomachay (temple of the water and Coricancha (the temple of the sun).

After spending several days in Cusco and visiting the village of Pisac, it was time for the Lares Inca Trail trek through Peru’s Andes Mountains. This was a fun and exhilarating experience for the members as they got to scale mountaintops and catch a stunning view of some of the famous glacial mountain peaks up to 5,750 meters in height.

Towards the end of their Peru trip, members visited Machu Picchu, an Incan citadel set high in the Andes Mountains. They arrived early in the morning so they could witness a breathtaking sunrise over the majestic stronghold. After a guided tour through the complex, some of the members took a hike up Montana Mountain for an amazing view back down to Machu Picchu ruins and the surrounding area.

Although this challenging hike was not for the faint of heart, the rewarding view was well worth the journey

The 10 day Peru trip ended where it began, in the city of Cusco. The members were given a farewell group dinner at a beautiful restaurant in the city. This was their last chance to sample Peruvian cuisine, experience more music and culture from the Andes and socialize with fellow members. St. Patrick’s Day Party with Events & Adventures Phoenix

Experience A New Kind Of St. Patrick’s Day with Events & Adventures Phoenix

Why celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in one place when you can party on the go? This is exactly what Events & Adventures Phoenix did when members boarded a giant London-style party bus and took to the fun-filled streets of Phoenix. This event was an exciting time for members to let loose and get to know each other during a familiar holiday while gaining an entirely new experience!

The evening began at a local hotel where the members met up. The Real London Bus Tour Company provided the mode of transportation, which was a giant double-decker party bus. The bus was a replica of the classic red-colored buses that roam the streets of London. It had tinted windows, more than enough room for food and drinks and an impressive sound system so that members could listen to their favorite tunes. Irish rock music was a popular choice since everyone wanted to get into that St. Patty’s Day spirit.

This was just the beginning of their evening as the party bus toured the city of Tempe and West Mesa

The group went to four different bars where they had special discounts waiting for them. These discounts were offered to Events & Adventures members only, which gave everyone a feeling of exclusivity. The members played games at the bars and enjoyed making new friends over some drinks and laughter.

After each bar, the members boarded the party bus and headed for the next one. This event was a round-trip occasion so that members didn’t have to worry about transportation or car-pooling. The party was kept alive when they stepped back onto the bus as the members were greeted with food, music and dancing. By the end of the night, the members were dropped off at the hotel where it all began.

The St. Patrick’s Day Party by Events & Adventures Phoenix was an outstanding event with a great turnout

Over 40 members attended and ended up having the time of their lives. Getting around and worrying about traffic while trying to focus on having a good time is difficult, so why not have the way of transportation become the main event? Spending St. Patrick’s Day on a double-decker party bus was a fun and unique twist to the holiday. Events & Adventures gave their Phoenix members an experience that they’ll never forget. Get excited for our next great event!

Another fun event of bubble soccer with Events & Adventures

Bubble Soccer with Events & Adventures San Jose

Hear About Events & Adventures San Jose’s Crazy Bubble Soccer Experience

Events & Adventures San Jose took part in a friendly game of soccer with a twist; they were strapped into giant bubbles! The members had a blast during this crazy event, letting their inner-child run free as they flipped and rolled their way to victory. This was a fun opportunity for members to spend time with each other while sharing many laughs along the way. Unlike many of our travel events, bubble soccer has a real local flavor, which provided a more intimate atmosphere for the San Jose members.

The bubble soccer game was hosted by Silver Creek Sports on their indoor field, with a few coaches on site to officiate the game. Members were split into two teams, starting at opposite sides of the field. In dodgeball-like fashion, the soccer ball was placed in the center, awaiting the pileup of inflated bubbles.

At the sound of the coach’s whistle, both teams raced toward each other at full speed

Laughable chaos ensued as members collided into each other like a horde of bouncy bumper cars. At first, the members were slightly apprehensive about crashing and falling, but they became fearless as soon as they discovered the joy in flipping around, rolling down the field and even getting stuck upside down. They started by chasing the soccer ball into the goal, eventually getting distracted by the amazing abilities of their giant bubble suits. This wild soccer game was a judgement-free zone, since laughing at each other was just a part of the fun.

Bubble soccer also turned out to be a great workout, leaving members exhausted by the end of the games. Afterward, the group went to lunch and grabbed some beers. The Silver Creek Sportsplex featured an eating area that overlooked an ice hockey rink, which was the perfect place for the members to wind down and get to talk with each other in a calmer atmosphere.

Since all they had time for on the field was laughter, it was much easier to get acquainted over beers and great food

By the end of the day, the crazy game of bubble soccer brought the group of singles closer together, giving them a reason to smile and enjoy themselves while meeting other people just like them. The Events & Adventures San Jose members appreciated the fact that this event was smaller, with about twelve attendees, which helped them avoid feeling overwhelmed or out of place. Events & Adventures offers a variety of events, both big and small, giving members the opportunity to feel comfortable and at their best. We can’t wait to tell you about the next great event.

Glassblowing class with Events & Adventures Minneapolis

Glassblowing with Events & Adventures Minneapolis

Read About The Glassblowing Workshop Experience by Events & Adventures Minneapolis

The members of Events & Adventures Minneapolis embraced their artistic side while visiting Vandalia Glassworks, a state-of-the-art hot glass shop and cold working facility. The members entered the world of glassblowing, opening their eyes to new possibilities while learning how to manipulate molten glass to create beautiful ornaments.

Trying their hand at this amazing craft was a great way for members to spend time with each other in a relaxed and comfortable environment

The members attended a Glassblowing 101 class, introducing them to the art at a reasonable pace. Fortunately, Vandalia Glassworks provides a warm and welcoming facility for all levels of glassblowers with the perfect balance of instruction and assistance. For this introductory class, members started with hand-crafted glass paperweights. They were given the equipment along with several personalization options, including a variety of different colors. The group broke off into several small teams who went in one at a time to craft their glass creations.

The members used long poles to gather liquid glass from the main furnace, which was then manipulated at the artist’s discretion. Some members chose solid colors for their sculptures, while others went with a beautiful translucent color. Interestingly, the members used newspapers drenched in water to twist the colors and form the shape of the glass. They returned to the furnace several times to soften the glass and get it just right.

Members enjoyed having so much creative control over the process and were proud of their glass paperweights at the end of the day

When they were finished, members put their sculptures into a cooler where they transformed into a solid take-home masterpiece. Fortunately, this glassblowing facility also features a gallery where members were able to walk-through and view a number of marvelous glass sculptures created by professional artists. A few of the glassblowing artists were present, creating amazing glass ornaments before their very eyes.

The Events & Adventures Minneapolis members made lasting memories at Vandalia Glassworks, learning a fun and unique activity with new friends in a comfortable environment. In fact, Events & Adventures Minneapolis had such a great time that they plan to attend a more advanced glassblowing class later this month! This is just one of many opportunities that Events & Adventures provides its members with to meet people just like them. There’s a lot in store for our great members, we’re excited to see what happens next!

murder mystery event with Events & Adventures

The Murder Mystery with Events & Adventures Seattle

Events & Adventures Seattle had the amazing opportunity to be a part of Mystery Weekend 2018 in the city of Langley, Washington. The annual murder mystery on Whidbey Island was a new and exciting way for members to make friends and get out of town. Plus, who doesn’t love a good mystery? This year’s Sherlock Holmes type murder mystery invited members into an interactive experience as they attempted to solve a heinous crime.

The adventure began as members boarded a luxury ferry en route to the south side of Whidbey Island. During this enjoyable ride, they were given packets containing background information about their destination, the small town of Langley. Upon arrival, a local church offered the group a free breakfast, fueling them for the exciting day ahead. Each member received a local newspaper from the chamber of congress that detailed the murder and exactly what took place.

Now it was time to put their detective hats on and head out to gather clues

Townsfolk across the city were in character as the members asked them questions in order to solve the crime. The story was written by local authors and involved live actors roaming the streets as well as additional “suspects” including characters like the mayor, the police chief, shop keepers, the librarian and basically the whole city of Langley. Everyone was dressed in character, which added to the realism and fun of the event.

At this point, everyone split up into groups and toured the city looking for clues. Their first stop was the murder scene itself, which was roped off. The crime took place right outside of a new comedy club that was soon to be open to the public. Before the club even opened, the headliner was found dead on the doorstep. This set the stage for the members to begin their quest for answers and make new friends along the way as they worked together to solve the mystery.

The members had a great time touring the local shops, restaurants, hotels and other charming locations as they participated in such a unique event

At the end of the day, everyone came back together to bring the story to a close. Many of the member’s detective work paid off as they were able to successfully reveal the culprit behind the murder. The Langley Murder Mystery gave Events & Adventures Seattle the opportunity to make friends during an adventurous weekend. Visiting Whidbey Island was a chance for members to get out of town and experience new things with new people, we can’t wait until the next great event!

Mardi Gras Valentine’s Day Party with Events & Adventures Dallas

The Mardi Gras Valentine’s Day Party Was A Special Time for Events & Adventures Dallas

For this year’s Valentine’s Day party, Events & Adventures Dallas celebrated with a twist as members experienced a Mardi Gras themed masquerade house party. When Valentine’s Day and Mardi Gras are in the same week, why not combine them for an awesome event? There was a lot in store for members, including a DJ, food, drinks and even a photo booth. Rather than stressing out on Valentine’s Day, the fun atmosphere of the party encouraged Dallas members to let loose and meet new people in a comfortable environment.

Over 70 people were in attendance and most everyone dressed the part for this festive occasion, wearing masks, bead necklaces, and other fun apparel. The DJ played songs commemorating Mardi Gras and celebrating the rich cultures and traditions of New Orleans. Additionally, there was a song request form at the sign in table so that members could dance to their favorite hits.

How could they stay in their shell when there was a conga parade winding through the house and around the yard?

The food and refreshments at this unique Valentine’s Day party didn’t disappoint; after all, it was a Mardi Gras celebration, as well! Delicious Cajun-style food was catered to the event, with non-Cajun food available to those that couldn’t take the heat. The famous frozen hurricane cocktails served in colorful take-home glasses were a highlight of the party. Members sipped on the lively drinks while watching the dancers go crazy or conversing with new friends.

A professional photographer was there to capture all of the memories, setting up a photo booth and snapping some action shots. Although the photo booth was Valentine’s Day themed, members showed off their Mardi Gras props and masks for the camera. In case they wanted to wind down, members could take a break from the dance floor and picture posing to watch the Winter Olympics being shown in the background.

Since the new members meeting took place beforehand, 30 brand new Dallas members were excited to experience this Valentine’s Day party as their first event

Not only did the new members get to taste the famous frozen hurricane cocktail, they also got a taste of what Events & Adventures is all about. It was the perfect time for them to meet the other members and enjoy a quality event.
