Fun traveling with Events & Adventures Phoenix

Live Your Bucket List With Events & Adventures Phoenix

What’s on your bucket list? Skydiving? A trip to Peru?  How about visiting Australia, the Amazon, Cuba or Ireland? Maybe even river rafting at the Grand Canyon or facing your fear of heights on a zipline? Events & Adventures has done all of this, and a lot more. We have a “bucket list-worthy” activity every month. In fact, this month alone our club is going skydiving, white water rafting, horseback riding, whale watching and visiting Ireland, with trips to Spain and the Grand Canyon coming up later this year!

Every person should have the adrenaline-filled adventure of jumping and falling gracefully from a perfectly good airplane, taking a kayak into the river and feeling the sheer force of the elements at its finest, or flying high above the ground on a zipline.  But don’t worry, if an adrenaline rush isn’t your thing we can find another kind of adventure that’s more your speed. For example, maybe a trip to Ireland where you and 30 of your new friends will explore the Irish country-side and partake in local St. Patrick’s Day celebrations? And then later this year we will tour the old world historic cities of Spain and take a peek into the frozen in time island of Cuba!  We also plan to take a boat up the Amazon River and witness the wonders of the untouched civilizations of the rainforest.

Once you’ve checked off everything on your current bucket list alongside Events & Adventures you’ll have time to create a new one.  With Events & Adventures you have the opportunity to have experiences you never thought possible for yourself, adventures that are more thrilling and exciting than you could possibly have dreamed.  This all happens while you are making new friends both in your city and around the world.  So whether you are an adrenaline junkie, or a quiet explorer, Events & Adventures can be your ticket to the life and experiences you’ve always wanted.

Bring in St. Patrick’s Day with Our Vancouver Members

Happy Leap Year!  Leap Day is a perfect day to meet, mingle, and take a leap of faith in the world of dating.  To celebrate this special day (it only happens once every four years after all), Events & Adventures Vancouver went down to the Wolf & Hound — one of our city’s finest traditional Irish pubs.

According to an old Irish legend (or possibly history), Saint Brigid struck a deal with Saint Patrick that would allow women to propose to men—rather than the other way around—every four years. So what better way to spend leap day than by having fun with other singles from all over town who are also looking to build relationships with people in a way that isn’t boring and traditional? Our members enjoyed a cozy atmosphere, local craft beers on tap, and all in all, had good ‘craic’ thanks to the great company!

Speaking of Irish traditions, our Events & Adventures chapter kept with that theme and joined  in on what is hands down the best St. Patrick’s Day celebration in the city: the Celtic festival, or Ceilidh. A ceilidh is a social event with folk music, singing, traditional dancing, and storytelling—and it’s always a blast! We will be bringing our crew down to the Imperial Theatre this Saturday night for an evening of live bands, traditional music, and Irish dancers. So don’t miss out on this legendary party!

As for the actual day of St Patrick’s Day on March 17th, what better way is there to celebrate that with an intimate group of friends at one of East Vancouver’s finest establishments? We’re going to be hosting an event at Fet’s Whisky Kitchen, where we’ll be sampling some of the finest Irish whiskeys. Fet’s has over 750 different bottlings—one of the largest selections in the world.  So let’s hear a round of “Sláinte” for all these wonderful Irish traditions, and so many chances to celebrate while making new friends and meting great people!

Events & Adventures Has Their Own Amazing Race in Santa Clara

Last week 44 members of Events & Adventures Santa Clara participated in the club’s Amazing Race event.  Members drew colored armbands from a hat, and the colors that were drawn determined the teams. The groups then raced from Shoreline Lake to Rengstorff Park in Mountain View. We made a four-mile trek using three different modes of transportation, over land and water, and going outside our comfort zones while we worked as a team to win prizes and an epic BBQ.

With seven or eight people on each team, and other members stationed throughout Mountain View California, the race began! Five teams played “Peddle Boat Tag”. Two members at a time churned across the lake, and once on the other side, one member of the team had to exit and tag the bushes on the shore. The duo peddled back to the dock, gave another set of teammates their life jackets and joined their group in cheering on the members who were still racing.

Once all members of a team had finished the peddle boat leg, they were directed to a bicycle waiting by the dock. At that point, the entire team ran to the “Bicycle Basketball” station. There, one-by-one each member had to try and throw a basketball into their team’s basket while riding their bicycle around the court.  Once this task was completed by all the members of a team, the group was given a clue that they had to decipher. It led them to a bridge and there, a club member stationed there handed the team another clue. Once solved, this clue told the teams to follow the edge of a golf course to the park’s kite flying area.

When contestants arrived at the kite flying area, they were met by another member who gave each team a kite-making kit. Each team was required to build the kite as quickly as possible. Once the kite flew in the air for two minutes, the member who was supervising gave the team another envelope with their next clue, as well as a list of tasks that they could accomplish along the way for time deduction bonuses. Teams had to take a group selfie outside the gates of the park, take pictures with any Google self-driving cars that they saw, and attempt to form the word “Google” in front of one of the Google signs using only their bodies—all as we raced to our Events & Adventures chapter’s favorite bar and volleyball venue. Once there, another member made sure that each team hit the volleyball over the net ten times without it hitting the sand before they could be given the next clue.

The next clue contained a multitude of riddles that directed the teams through several streets until they came to another park. There, a member was waiting with balloon-covered boards. The teams were then given a blindfold and darts, and while each team member attempted to hit the balloons, their teammates would shout directions to help them aim.  Once a team was ready to move on, they were given the final set of clues which would take the teams to the game’s finish line—Rengstorff Park.

Each member of the team that finished the race the fastest won an Events & Adventures Amazing Race Mountain View water bottle filled with tiny Jelly Belly Champagne Bottles and Pop Rocks. The best prize, however, was all the laughter that ensued at the barbecue that followed the race, as everyone relived the excitement of the day.

Events & Adventures Minneapolis Goes Snorkeling

Last week 12 brave Events & Adventures members went snorkeling with all types of sea creatures at SEA LIFE located in the Mall of America. It was an hour-long surface snorkeling adventure, and our members were able to get up close and personal with over 75 types of tropical fish including puffer fish and shark. We were even able to bring our waterproof cameras underwater with us to take pictures with the fish and get the ultimate selfie. Those of us who were not quite brave enough to get in the water had a great time walking through the aquarium tunnel, where we got to watch the fish and our fellow members while they were snorkeling.

Once the snorkeling session was complete we had the privilege of getting a 45 minute guided behind-the-scenes tour. The tour took us up to the deck above the aquarium tunnel system where we were able to see animals that were currently off-exhibit. We were then able to explore the laboratory and learn how they maintain the 1.3 million gallon tanks that simulate the ocean and make up the aquarium. Finally, the tour guide took us into the food prep kitchen where we got to see how and what they feed the thousands of exotic creatures in their care. From sharks to sea turtles, and jellyfish to seahorses, SEA LIFE Aquarium showcases thousands of sea creatures underneath Mall of America. By allowing visitors to come face to face with animals rarely seen in Minnesota, SEA LIFE gave us a new level of excitement and understanding of the world’s oceans.

After the behind the scenes tour we were able to explore the rest of the aquarium.  SEA LIFE Minnesota is the only aquarium in the Midwest with an interactive stingray touch pool, where you can get up close and personal with real live stingrays, pet them and handfeed them shrimp. It was a fun and entertaining way for all of us to break out of our comfort zones.

All in all it was a fantastic way to spend a Sunday afternoon, and a great opportunity to mingle with fellow Events & Adventures members. Many of us have always wanted to go snorkeling with tropical fish, and finally got a chance to cross that off our bucket lists. We ended the day grabbing food to refuel and chatting about the amazing experiences we all shared that day.

Events & Adventures can be The Perfect Makeshift Sports Club in the Bay Area

Bay Area Events & Adventures members like Wesley Chang look forward to the annual rite of spring that is baseball, and when our club members need a group of people to enjoy their favorite sports with, Events & Adventures is the best sports club they could ask for. Wesley and fellow member Kris Marie both revel in their memories of Game 4 of the 2012 Division Series when the A’s pulled off a stunning come-from-behind win.

“That was the most incredible baseball game I’ve been to!” Kris recalls.

Robert Miller remembers that night in 2012 very well. He and a group of Events & Adventures members attended an event planned by the club at a bar in downtown San Jose. Little did they know that would be the night the San Francisco Giants would win the World Series for the first time in a long time. Robert feels that the day was made even more special because he and all his Events & Adventures friends were able to celebrate the event together. Watching the game together made them all feel like a sports club, but getting to celebrate history being made turned them into lifelong friends.

Our sports events are popular among our members. Sam Rothstein, another Events & Adventures member from the Bay Area, says his favorite experience at an Events & Adventures event was at an A’s game. Events & Adventures booked a luxury suite to watch the game, and everyone was able to comfortably mingle and experience the game in a way most of them never had before. The night ended up being unforgettable.

Just hear it from Kris Marie, “I’ve gone to the A’s opening day with Events & Adventures three years in a row, and I’ve always had a great time, even though I’m a Giants fan!”

Events & Adventures member Toni Duffy summed it up well when she said, “Baseball is summertime to me”. And what better way to kick off the summer than adding a new spin to your favorite sports by experiencing them with Events & Adventures Bay Area.

Fun group event at the circus with Events & Adventures Vancouver

New Experiences Circus Style with Events & Adventures Vancouver

Come one, come all and enter the Big Top, where your dreams of running away with the circus can come true! Events & Adventures makes finding unique new experiences stress-free and easy.

Last Saturday, Events & Adventures Vancouver was mesmerized by circus performers at several circus-themed events such as Cirque du Soleil! We booked a private group lesson at Vancouver’s top circus training school—Circus West, where we were entertained and taught circus tricks by our instructors.

We began our course with juggling, poi spinning and object manipulation. And after everyone was warmed up, we got a chance to take a shot at the more complicated tricks that everyone wanted a taste of—trapeze tricks, the aerial silks, giant trampolines, and more! Our group was split in half and while one group got a chance to try out the Olympic-sized trampolines while learning how to bounce, flip, and split, the others twisted their way into the air on the aerial silks. There’s no question that the trapeze was the most popular attraction, we all wanted a chance to take a turn flying on it. With the help of a safety harness, rope, and the strength of our own bodies, we were able to swing on the trapeze while dangling by our ankles at least 20 feet up into the air! Even the shyest members of our group were open to new experiences like this thanks to the friendly atmosphere of our club.

To finish off the night we learned hand to hand acrobatics and tried acro-yoga. Our lessons were taught as a team-building exercise. There’s no better way to bond and connect than to get up close and personal during an acro-yoga session—it was a challenge to figure out how to balance on each other but we left the experience feeling closer than ever. The night was amazing thanks to our teachers who were funny, engaging, and truly gave our group the VIP treatment at the circus, and because of the friendly and open attitudes of our members at Events & Adventures Vancouver.

Getting in a game with Events & Adventures Houston

Create Relationships with Fellow Houston Sports Fans

Opening Day Baseball isn’t just any old event to sports fans—it’s a display of hope, optimism and enthusiasm.  Every fan from every major league team has high hopes for their season and their players.  After years of rebuilding we didn’t expect too much from our rag tag group of young players and aging veterans last season.  Experts from all across baseball decided that the Astros would be great—just not for another two years. Baseball pundits predicted a deep playoff run for 2017, but expected little from the 2015 season.

From April to October this group came together and did what no one expected—they committed themselves to a goal and they achieved it.  They made the playoffs for the first time since a very different version of the same team lost the World Series in 2005.  For the first time in ten years they were playing, and winning.  Houston beat the New York Yankees in the Wild Card game only to fall to the future World Champion, the Kansas City Royals, 3-2. It was a great time to experience alongside fellow sports fans from Events & Adventures Houston.

So on April 11th, when we take our seats for the 7:10pm first pitch, we will celebrate hope, optimism and enthusiasm as a group of new friends looking to come together and continue to live the life we love.  We don’t know what the season will hold, but for this one game we will enjoy more than just an evening of great baseball at Minute Maid Park.  We’ll enjoy the experience of everything Opening Day stands for, alongside fellow sports fans, and the new friends we’ve met through Events & Adventures.

Poker Night with Events & Adventures Dallas

A Poker Night in Dallas for All Types of Players

Events & Adventures Dallas had a blast at Poker Night! Shortly after arriving, we hung out for a bit and had a quick bite to eat before the game finally started. The event was held at Trinity Hall, and the venue had bunch of great beer on tap, as well as authentic Irish and British food like fish and chips and Sheppard’s pie. Lots of members showed up, and between all of us we had to set up a couple of tables. We had a great mix of men and women, and a lot of friendly and fun people showed up to play.

We learned very quickly who really knew how to play and who was still learning their way around the poker table. We weren’t too hard on the newbies; in fact, some of us took some time to help struggling players figure out the game. It was a great event because we had the opportunity to sit down and learn more about other members in an atmosphere that made conversation come easy. Our group had a great time talking about everything from food and drinks, to how their week went. Many of us took the opportunity to try new types of beer with the encouragement of other members who were more familiar with the unique kinds of drinks offered at the bar.

Only two women from our group of club members advanced to the championship round, but many others stuck around to play on the secondary tables just for fun, or hung out and watched others play. One of our ladies even came in third at the championship table and won a gift card!

One of the best things about Events and Adventures is that we all get the chance to experience new things in a very positive and friendly environment. In fact, most of us had no idea that Trinity Hall even had poker on Mondays! A couple of us liked it so much we’re going back again together, just as a group of new friends. We’d have never known anything about this great event if it weren’t for Events & Adventures Dallas.

Camping with Events & Adventures

Find Adventure and Friendship with Events & Adventures

Camping is the cure for everything.

Go camping, get outdoors, set plans and make them happen. Spending your free time sleeping outside may not sound amazing on paper, but the fresh air and tranquility of our Texas State Parks is what you’ve been missing (and it’s even better in the company of new friends). Events & Adventures Houston has gone on 25 camping trips and no one has ever regret coming along. We’ve dealt with storms, unexpected cold, droughts, and floods. But the unexpected challenges are just a way for us to come together and share a real experience; so you aren’t just meeting new people, but also building relationships.

Camping with other adults is something most people don’t get to experience. The uniqueness of the experience is why we make it a point to go camping or do an overnight trip once a month for our members. Relaxing around a campfire brings out the best in us. It’s a place where we can take a deep breathe, relax and not worry about the city stress that keeps us down. It’s a place where meeting new people turns into more than just getting along with someone for the moment, but rather forming lasting relationships and really getting to know one another. When you’re camping—it’s just you, nature, and a bunch of great people, so you don’t have that stress of trying to be someone you’re not or looking a certain way. You just let yourself sink into the trees and the forest and experience freedom.

Huntsville State Park is one of our favorite spots to go camping. We go every February and this year the weather was perfect. We hiked the seven mile trail all the way around the lake. There were a lot of tired faces when we returned but the feeling of accomplishment outweighed our exhaustion. We paddle-boarded, canoed, rode horses, had campfires, celebrated birthdays, played games and took time to smell the roses.

Whatever you do this year we hope you visit as many of our wonderful State Parks as you can.  Do things that get you out of the house, and live a life you love.

Have a Busy and Exciting Weekend without any Planning

For so many of us weekends come and go way too quickly.  Before you even have time to plan what you’ll be doing Friday night, the alarm clock is going off and signaling the start of Monday morning. But that hasn’t been a problem for our club members since they joined Events & Adventures.

This last weekend we had tons of plans scheduled, with no thought needed on the members’ side—all we had to do was show up and have a good time. Our Friday night was a late one with bingo after dark. The casino where we spent the night created a bingo-meets-night-club atmosphere for entertainment.  It sounds crazy but we were actually playing bingo while also hitting the dancefloorCould you keep up with the numbers while a dance party grooves all around you?

On Saturday morning we spent a beautiful day in the desert.  Clear skies, 70 degree weather and lots of Events & Adventures friends learning to shoot clay pigeons with the shotguns.  One of our members was such a good shot; he was able to hit four clay pigeons with one load, and two shots—entertaining and impressive! Then the night was filled with custom built pizza, a personal pizza truck, craft beer, and Cards Against Humanity.

Sunday we slowed it down and took to the trails and rode horses into the sunset. This quiet, peaceful ride through the desert was the perfect way to wrap up a fun, eventful and adventure-filled weekend.
There’s so much to do with Events & Adventures there’s no need to plan your weekend.  Spend your week concentrating on what you need to get done; and then when the weekend comes around your R&R is all ready for you.  Whether you’re looking for something adventurous to do on your weekends, or an opportunity to meet and have fun with new friends, Events & Adventures has you covered.  Next weekend will be filled with even more new adventures, so check us out. We’ll be doing things like city scavenger hunts, bumping each other around at bubble soccer, or jumping out of planes on our quarterly skydiving adventure!  And all in one weekend!
