Our Minneapolis members celebrated Earth Day this year by ziplining through the verdant spring Minnesota landscape. Nestled approximately one hour southwest of the Twin Cities, Kerfoot Canopy Tours in scenic Henderson is home to the longest, fastest, and highest zip lining experience in Minnesota. Originally created to help study the animal and plant life in Costa Rica, ziplining is now used as an exhilarating natural rollercoaster experience!
For two and a half hours, our members were able to go ziplining through 14 different lines with a professional guide. Our two groups were guided through a ground school course before progressing to higher and higher lines as they went along in their journey. With over a mile of lines, a 170 foot high suspension bridge and abundant wildlife and forests to explore, our members had this to say about their experiences:
“It was a great time. Guides made us feel safe and comfortable. They were professional and fun. Course was great for learning and built us up well to the taller and faster lines. It was a great time length where it wasn’t instantly over but didn’t take up the whole day. Never boring. Gorgeous views. Great staff. Good time for all!” ~ Member Jessyca Flug
“Great event! Really fun group, good guides & a challenging course. Now I wanna go skydiving!” ~ Member Bill Slater
Events & Adventures fills your calendar with awesome events like ziplining and skydiving every month.
Events & Adventures Phoenix took things to all new heights and spent Sunday soaring above the city. We went hang gliding and experienced a whole new world. High above the zooming cars, city lights, and endless noise we found ourselves at peace among the birds. We were strapped safely and securely into the harness and got the whole thing started with a little help from a tow rope and an airplane specially designed to pull hang gliders.
Once we smoothly reached 3,000 feet we were released from the plane and left to our own devices… well, okay, maybe not entirely alone. We flew tandem, of course, and with the assistance of our instructors some of us even got to try our hand at piloting the hang glider. Some of the turns were similar to those on a roller-coaster, but nothing crazier than that! The entire experience from start to finish lasted about 15 minutes, but a lot of us felt like we could hang out up there for hours! Landing even seemed as effortless and gentle as the take off and perfectly brought everything full circle.
Some members conquered their fear of heights, others stepped outside of their normal comfort zone, and some members just came along for the ride completely without worry. One member recalled his experience as being incredibly nervous the night before and leading up to the event, but once walking out onto the pavement and towards the hang glider he was filled with a sense of calm. Another member was even lucky enough to glide alongside a red hawk and was left with an unforgettable memory. Talk about a once in a lifetime experience!
From start to finish and with the support of friends, we all knocked something new off our bucket lists.
We even overheard a member that was originally afraid of heights talk about potentially going skydiving in the future! It’s safe to say you can’t knock something until you try it and you never know what experiences might open up a whole new world of adventures. Hang gliding for Events & Adventures was another huge success and we can’t wait to get out there and do it all over again!
One of the many things I love about Events & Adventures is the chance to go outside my comfort zone without having to put in too much effort to accomplish it. We just went indoor skydiving. I don’t think I’d ever do that on my own. It sounded cool, but would I really do it? Would it be too hard? With so many other members of Events & Adventures Dallas taking part in the event, I got up the courage to try it. Everyone was excited; some of us were nervous but others were super-pumped to give it a shot!
We had our private flying class and learned how to do it safely while having fun. The jokes in the room made us all more comfortable. We geared up, and journeyed into the tunnel to wait our turn. I loved that everyone cheered for each other. Watching others cemented in my mind that I can do this! We had someone taking photos outside the tunnel and I saw everyone smiling and hamming it up for the camera. Watching was almost as fun as flying. My favorite to watch was a member with brown braided pigtails with blue in them. They looked like they had their own flight plans!
I Found a New Comfort Zone — Floating in the Air!
When it was my turn, I fell into the air and felt it catch me and hold me up before the instructor directed me to the middle of the tunnel. I was there for one minute—but it felt like 10. He gave me directions to improve the experience: legs straighter, arms lower, legs more bent, hands together, and relax. It was hard, but exhilarating. As I stepped out of the wind tunnel into the seating area everyone clapped and told me how great I’d done. Then, we all got to do it a SECOND time! Some of our group had the ‘high flyer’ option and the instructor took them up towards the top of the tunnel. I chickened out, but the ones that did it loved it.
When we all exited the wind tunnel area we had a great time talking about how we felt, how each other did and how everyone wants to do it again. The comradery was the best part. I can actually enjoy getting out of my comfort zone while having other members there to support me. It’s great to feel welcome and supported by so many people that I hardly know. I plan on getting to know them all better! No other singles club provides that kind of feeling of community like Events & Adventures!

For so many of us weekends come and go way too quickly. Before you even have time to plan what you’ll be doing Friday night, the alarm clock is going off and signaling the start of Monday morning. But that hasn’t been a problem for our club members since they joined Events & Adventures.
This last weekend we had tons of plans scheduled, with no thought needed on the members’ side—all we had to do was show up and have a good time. Our Friday night was a late one with bingo after dark. The casino where we spent the night created a bingo-meets-night-club atmosphere for entertainment. It sounds crazy but we were actually playing bingo while also hitting the dancefloor. Could you keep up with the numbers while a dance party grooves all around you?
On Saturday morning we spent a beautiful day in the desert. Clear skies, 70 degree weather and lots of Events & Adventures friends learning to shoot clay pigeons with the shotguns. One of our members was such a good shot; he was able to hit four clay pigeons with one load, and two shots—entertaining and impressive! Then the night was filled with custom built pizza, a personal pizza truck, craft beer, and Cards Against Humanity.
Sunday we slowed it down and took to the trails and rode horses into the sunset. This quiet, peaceful ride through the desert was the perfect way to wrap up a fun, eventful and adventure-filled weekend.
There’s so much to do with Events & Adventures there’s no need to plan your weekend. Spend your week concentrating on what you need to get done; and then when the weekend comes around your R&R is all ready for you. Whether you’re looking for something adventurous to do on your weekends, or an opportunity to meet and have fun with new friends, Events & Adventures has you covered. Next weekend will be filled with even more new adventures, so check us out. We’ll be doing things like city scavenger hunts, bumping each other around at bubble soccer, or jumping out of planes on our quarterly skydiving adventure! And all in one weekend!
Events and Adventures takes to the skies! On the bucket list of so many is jumping out of a perfectly good airplane. SKYDIVING! It’s also one of the things that can be so hard to get yourself to do. Sometimes it takes gathering yourself up, getting in a group of friends and just saying “what the heck..I’m doing it” If you have never done it, it can be hard to believe just how hard it can be to step into a plane and take off knowing that the only way down now is out the door at 10,000 feet or more. You almost have to tell yourself to NOT listen to the voice in your head that is getting louder and louder saying “ WHAT ARE YOU DOING” and just think of something else … like a shopping list or what’s in your Amazon wish list or anything to keep your mind off the idea that you are soon going to be free falling out of a plane. Then once you DO actually get out of the plane it’s so amazing, and you want to get back in the plane and do it again.
The E&A Skydive was amazing! The 60 second free-fall full of spins and twists rivals no other thrill! I even got to pull the rip cord for my chute … What a ride! Then gently float to the earth below with a few more spins … and the perfect landing … awesome hardly describes it!
