It’s The Arizona State Fair!

There’s an event that only comes around once a year to Phoenix and it brings people from all over the state together for a couple of weeks. Yes, the Arizona State Fair. It’s a one-of-a-kind event that satisfies our inner-child via rides, food and activities!

I don’t think we could get from ride to ride fast enough or scream from exhilaration any louder! It’s not every day you drop 100ft in just a few seconds or swing high and fast above the fairgrounds in the air! Between our group we ate our fair share of junk food – which was AMAZING! Ever try a deep fired Oreo? They’re actually pretty delish!

Within minutes of playing the fair games, we had all won a stuffed animal… only to add to our collection later on in the evening.  We got to pet baby goats, pot belly pigs, lambs and kangaroos! Walking around the state fair allowed us to chat and get to know each other better and talk about upcoming events. With amazing weather and great company, this event is a not-to-be-missed!

Getting lost never seems like a good idea.

Unless, of course, it’s in a corn maze. The fun part though it getting lost with 30 other people! What a fun night that was! Our group headed in to the maze with the expectation of taking about 1.5 hours to finish it… Apparently though, we are rockstars because we finished it within 45 minutes! Following the clues, our group didn’t make one wrong turn! (Ok, we might have and just didn’t notice it) But really we had a great time running through the corn and following clues. When we reached the end, we were having such a good time that we decided to turn around & find how far back we could go! Our group re-entered the maze and went all the way back until we couldn’t go back any further. What a fun Halloween treat!

Halloween Parties are so nice we did it Twice!

One of our favorite events is themed Pub Crawls so we decided to dress up on Friday for a little fun before our big Halloween Party.  About 40 of us hit Washington Avenue in full costume and we made a splash.  We started with a free beer party at Blue Moose and end up doing the Monster Mash at Taps.  Saturday night though was the main event!  90 of the single best people of Houston gathered at the E&A clubhouse for dancing, crystal ball reading, photobooth, food, drinks, blackjack & prizes.  We had a dance off for Backstreet Boys tickets & the 8 foot tall Sasquatch won the big costume contest taking home 2 tickets to see Zedd & a ticket to our annual NYE bash!

Halloween Bash in Minneapolis

Imagine walking into a room, full of dressed up fellow E&A members, whether it is your first event or your fiftieth… it has got to put a smile on your face!  From super original to super heroes, from scary to humorous, and everything in between!  Some had masks where you had to guess who it was, but eventually they would laugh or say something, and you’d have it figured out!  If this is your first event, it might take you a little longer, but that is what’s great about these big parties that E&A has every year… it’s an ice breaker in itself!  You all have something in common tonight… you’re all dressed up as someone other than yourself!  Tonight… you can be anyone you want to be!  This is a night where “nerds” get along with Gangsters, and flappers get along with ghosts, and a devil can sit on an angel’s lap… tonight… anything goes!  So whether you met someone new (or will have to re-meet them again, when they are out of costume) or got to catch up with someone you already knew, then mission accomplished!  All of you super heroes did your job and saved the night!  Especially on the dance floor!  Two words:  DANCE-OFF!  So until next year….

It’s Halloween in Chicago!

Chicago’s biggest event yet!!! And guess who was there? Super woman! Captain Jack Sparrow! And the Energizer Bunny! That’s right…I am talking about the Halloween Bash, and boy was it is FUN!!! Our first annual Halloween Party was so awesome that it carried into the wee hours of the morning! The company was great! The band rocked! The costumes were spectacular! It was so refreshing to see each other out of the ordinary. Dressing up simply makes you feel like a kid again, and we all need that every once in a while! Our VIP loft was perfect for dancing or just relaxing and mingling on the comfy couches. Plus, it was only steps away from the band. We had the best of both worlds! E&A created a night of great fun, friends and memories. We have the pictures to prove it!

I Knew It Was Going To Be A Great Party When……..

I knew it was going to be a great party when the passersby started coming in to look at the decorations.  Mind you, this wasn’t at the start of the party but in broad daylight, before we were even ready.  It was mostly adults, but sometimes kids who recognized the special tree doors from “The Nightmare Before Christmas.”

“Wow!  Those look great!” was followed by “What’s going on here tonight?”  There was more than one person who wanted to come to the party and then, I think, wished they were in E&A so they could be part of the party.

With the exception of a few devout fans of the film and the two hosts who dressed as Sally and Jack, most didn’t dress up with the theme.  It didn’t matter much though as there were mobsters, raver vikings, a Double Dare group (complete with dare “tasks” for the party), and group favorites, the “Bounty Hunters” from the tv show and an almost perfect likeness of Peggy Bundy from “Married with Children.”

There was great food, great drinks (with fun, friendly bartenders), and the DJ played everything from “Monster Mash” to house mixes of popular tunes.  I don’t think the dance floor was ever empty.  1:00 arrived and although it was difficult to get people to leave, some special things happened.  Part of what makes E&A so great is that the members felt some ownership and special part of this fun party, and they responded in kind by lending a hand by helping clean and take down decorations.  We left exhausted and with smiles on our faces.  Well, everyone except the bar owner who begged us to keep our decorations up through Halloween.

Halloween Bash in Dallas!

We had an AWESOME Halloween Party Saturday Night! It started with something unusual – a professional make-up artist zombie-izing people. In about 3 minutes Vivienne Vermuth changed each victim from whatever their costume was into a realistic looking zombie or an undead with wounds and dripping blood. It was amazing! Then, we all had a chance to step up to a green screen where one our members, David, took our pictures and printed them with a spooky house in the background so we had great souvenirs from the night. The food was a yummy taco/nacho bar and the DJ played anything we wanted to dance to. We danced until way after midnight. We had a blast!

Games Night in Houston!

The beautiful fall weather in Houston has made Games Nights at the clubhouse so nice.  We can open the doors and windows and enjoy being outside for games like Giant Jenga, Bean Bag Toss, Guesstures & Flip Cup.  This past Saturday we welcomed over 30 new members to the club and played games like Cards Against Humanity, Taboo & Blackjack!  The potluck was delicious as well.  Big thanks to everyone who cooked delicious treats & brought food! A big happy birthday to Chris B!  Thanks for spending your big day partying with us!

It Was A Dark And Stormy Night…….

Cue spooky music…It was a dark and stormy night…Well maybe not “stormy” but it was drizzly and cold!  The line was so long that we thought we would turn into zombies before we got to the end, but we didn’t mind too much. We had good company. There were 50 E&A members hanging out and we were on a mission!  There had been a zombie out break and it was up to us to save mankind!  We were loaded onto hay wagons and each assigned a paintball gun. Then we took off into the night.  Things were calm at first but then zombies started coming at us from all sides and it was our job to mow them down with our paintball guns!  There were a few close calls, but by the end we felt invincible!  After that we ventured out on foot through the pitch black corn maze with nothing but our flashlights to protect us!  We weren’t sure if  we would all made it out alive, but we did, and would do it again in a heartbeat! At the end of the night we eliminated the zombies and gained new E&A friends!

Donation Bowling for Loaves & Fishes

We did it! I have been working with Loaves & Fishes to have a food drive and we successfully helped fill their cabinets for the holidays! Donation Bowling was great. We had everyone bring something to donate for a discounted bowling rate. We filled two giant containers & had a good time doing it! Berret & David worked hard to teach me how to curve my ball when bowling  (I am a terrible bowler) and I successfully started getting the hang of it! About halfway through, Cupid Shuffle came on… This was the best part of the evening. Our entire group got up & danced in the lanes! Even those who didn’t know the dance learned it to participate! What a sight we must have been to the other bowlers. HA! It was such a fun night.
